HOW TO GET TO VENICE

From the UK:

British Airways, Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2.com, bmibaby and Thompsonfly all
provide regular low cost flights from main and regional airports.

These fly either to the main Marco Polo Airport [www.veniceairport.it] or
to Treviso Aiport. [www.trevisoairport.it]

From Marco Polo, there is a choice of buses and taxis to Piazzale Roma, then vaporetto.

Alternatively water bus (Alilaguna) or water taxi (expensive!).

Treviso airport (new teminal now open) is about 40 minutes by road with frequent connecting buses or taxis.

Trains arrive at the Ferrovia Santa Lucia [www.trenitaliaplus.com] which leads directly to the Grand Canal vaporetto stop.

Car Parking either in Piazzale Roma or in Mestre on the mainland, a short train journey to Santa Lucia.

"I stood in Venice, on the Bridge of Sighs; A palace and a prison on each hand; I saw from out the wave of her structure's rise As from the stroke of the enchanter's wand: A thousand years their cloudy wings expand Around me, and a dying Glory smiles O'er the far times, when many a subject land Look'd to the winged Lion's marble pines, Where Venice sate in state, throned on her hundred isles". Lord Byron, Childe Harold.
